Transcription: In the above picture appear officials of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio, who Saturday visited the Gastonia Firestone Plant. The visitors arrived by plane Saturday morning and spent the day observing the Firestone community and making a tour of the plant. While here Mr Thomas commented on the magnificent job done by industry for the war effort and expressed enthusiasm over the postwar outlook for Firestone products. Raymond C. Firestone, who accompanied the Akron officials, was recently a major in the Army Air Corps but was relieved from active duty in order in return to the important job of producing tires which are badly needed by the armed forces.
