Between 1928-1934, the Loray Mill and village were transformed by changes in production and working practices, as well as increasingly serious labor conflicts.  They became a battleground during the Gastonia strike of 1929. Photographs and newsreels tell different kinds of stories than the newspaper coverage of an earlier era, providing another window into the past.
